Run a system check for possible errors
Press Start Scan to find problems with Windows.

If you are using a third-party anti-virus program, check the following steps.
Disable the third-party antivirus program
If you are using a third-party antivirus program, temporarily disable the application. A timer or DPC error can be caused when a third-party antivirus program causes a conflict with the function of system files.
To temporarily disable the application, expand the icon in the taskbar. Right-click on your antivirus program and select the option to temporarily disable it.
Open Task Manager. On the Run tab, right-click the third-party antivirus program and select Disable. Restart the computer and check if the BSOD error occurs again.

3. Pending Windows update installation
- Press Start and select Settings.
- Go to Updates and Security and select Windows Updates.
- Click on Check for updates. Windows checks for current updates.
- Click Download to download the current updates. Some updates may require you to restart your computer to install them.
Keeping Windows up-to-date is a good way to avoid a fatal blue screen error due to hardware incompatibility and file corruption.
Windows updates usually contain glitches and minor fixes that can cause BSOD errors.
4. Start SFC scan
- Click Start, type cmd, and right-click on the command line.
- Select Run as Administrator to open a command prompt as administrator.
- In the command prompt window, type the following command and press Enter :
Sfc/scannov - The System File Checker utility scans all protected system files. This process may take some time, so wait until it is 100% complete.
FCS scans protected system files and replaces damaged files with a cached copy in a compressed folder.
As mentioned above, do not close the command line window until the operation is complete. Then restart the computer and check if the timer or CPD error is fixed.
5. Recovering damaged hard disk sectors
- Open a command prompt as administrator. Type cmd in the search box, right-click on the command prompt and select Run as administrator.
- In the command prompt window, type the following command and press Enter :
Chkdsk C: /f /r /x - It may take several hours for the tool to work with the reference disk. So you can leave the computer idle to complete the process.
- Once the process is complete, restart the computer and see if there are any improvements.
