How to use your laptop as a monitor for PS4?

The PS4 is one of the most popular consoles to ever grace the planet. While a console is a great way to play games, the best way to enjoy them is to connect them to a real screen.

Not everyone has access to huge televisions for the perfect living room gaming experience, but monitors are easy to use and much cheaper than televisions. In addition, many people have laptops that they use.

In this article we will see if you can use your laptop as a monitor for your PS4.

In a nutshell: You can’t.

This is because the HDMI port on your laptop is only an output port, just like the port on your PS4. This means that the port can only send signals, but not receive them. You can’t just push a cable into the ground and expect it to work.

There is, however, a detour. You can use the PS Remote Play application on your laptop and play games on it. The application allows remote access to the console via the Internet.

But you have to set it up first. You’ll also need a fast internet connection if you want to do this without too much quality loss or latency.

Here’s what you need to do to use your laptop as a monitor for your PS4 with the PS Remote Play application.

Step one: Follow this link to download the PS Remote Play application for Windows. The application is also available for MacOS or Android devices.

Step two: After downloading and installing, launch the application. We need to register for a NRP ID. Click on Log in to NSP and enter your login details.

Step three: Confirm the data use policy.

Step four: Since the app works for both PS4 and PS5, it will ask you which console you want to use. Press the PS4 button.

Step Five: The application will now search for your PS4. If they are not found, you will be prompted to link them manually by entering a code.

During our tests, the application failed several times to detect the PS4 automatically, so we had to resort to a manual link. You need the device code.

Step six: Go to the Settings section of your Playstation.

Step seven:  Access the connection settings for remote playback.

Step 8 : Select and click the Add Device button.

Step 9 : Here is your eight-digit code to enter into the PS Remote Play application.

Step 10 : Go back to the PS Remote Play application and enter the code. Click the Link button when you are done.

Step 11 : Your PS4 is now connected to your laptop. All you need to do is connect your PS4 controller to your PC via a USB or Bluetooth cable and play console games on your PC.

Note that not all applications can work with remote playback. While you can play games, applications like Spotify and Netflix may not work fully due to content limitations.
